Minnesota Vacations for Active Travelers...and for Active Observers!
River Point Chalets…Minnesota Vacation Lodging Hotels in Ely next to the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area BWCA
No list of the best in secluded getaways would be complete without the region's crown jewel, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Named one of the "50 Places of a Lifetime" by National Geographic Traveler, this remote wilderness area stretches some 1.1 million acres across the border of northern Minnesota and Canada.
Charles Kuralt noted, "If it is absolute solitude
you want, you have only to paddle far enough."
It is only fitting that River Point Resort & Outfitting Co. would offer Ely, Minnesota vacation motel and hotel lodging to complement the active lifestyle of those who enjoy the great Boundary Waters…
New at River Point are four unique one-bedroom accommodations called Chalets, each with a private sundeck and private entrance housed in a huge cedar-sided beautiful lakeside structure. Located on the vast, mile-long wilderness peninsula of River Point bordered by the South Kawishiwi River and Birch Lake with direct paddle access to the BWCA, the Chalets offer lake, river, and forest views.

2013 CHALET INFORMATION AND RATES
The new Chalets-Ely, Minnesota Motels-offer yet another dimension of lodging options at River Point. The active traveler who desires more of an "Eddie Bauer lifestyle" can be outfitted by River Point Outfitting Co. and venture off on a rustic, all-natural Boundary Waters canoe trip for an overnight or several day adventure, and then return to a warm bed along with many other amenities in one of the new, comfortable River Point Resort Chalets. Of course, one may select the Chalet lodging for several days prior to the canoe trip adventure…the choice is yours...it's your Minnesota vacation.
Serenity echoes throughout the entire wilderness facility of River Point Resort. The Chalets are also an outstanding choice for those who desire something more than the bed, bath and parking lot of the typical "motel" in downtown Ely.
Activity Programs, hiking, swimming, fishing and boating are intriguing for active travelers. And for the "active observer" type of traveler... listening to the call of the loon, watching an eagle soar, and relaxing by a peaceful evening bonfire are thoughtful substitutes for phones, video games, and television found in a typical motel setting.

From the sundecks of the four Chalets, guests can catch either the sun rising or setting over the lake, and now-and-then in the night sky, Mother Nature’s other brilliant light show – the aurora borealis!
Lakeview. The Chalet building is set back approximately 125-150 feet from the lakeshore with level ground, and close to the east sundeck which affords a lovely lakefront setting with flowered terrace. Easy access from the four luxury Chalets to the main marina, docking facility, north beach and playground, and also the west shoreline of Birch Lake, is adjacent, further enhancing this lodging option.
"The chalet was great. . .the outdoor feeling was carried into the chalet. Great view from the deck. We hate to leave!"
-Dan & Marsha W., Mukwonago, WI staying in Windsong Chalet
The one-bedroom comfortably designed Chalets are completely log-furnished. Three of the Chalets called Windsong, Ledgerock, and Sunrise, have a queen bed in the bedroom.
Evergreen Chalet has a double bed and a set of bunk-beds gracing the carpeted bedroom. The pleasant, light-filled living rooms in each Chalet have an abundance of furnishings, along with a queen or double sleeper sofa, decorative touches, ceiling fan, and gas fireplace.
Each luxury Chalet boasts a full, efficient kitchen with refrigerator, range/oven, microwave, small electric appliances such as toaster, hand-mixer, and blender, and coffeepot, dishwasher, and much more.
Beautifully appointed bathroom with large custom ceramic shower, and a private sundeck with grill and relaxing lounge chairs rounds out the offerings of each Chalet.
Air-Conditioning relaxes and refreshes.
"We enjoyed our visit more than I can express. The chalet was immaculate! It appeared as if it had never been used and that we were the first. Love the decor! The kitchen is stocked wonderfully and the entire chalet was so comfortable; I haven't slept that well in a long time."
