The "Naturally Superior™ " location of River Point Resort &
Outfitting Co. is on an amazing private wilderness peninsula
with a mile of secluded shoreline on Birch
Lake and the South Kawishiwi River reserved for the exclusive use of
River Point guests, and only 8.5 miles, or 10-15 minutes from
downtown Ely. River Point Road is a meandering, private
drive into River Point Resort off of state highway #1,
providing a wonderful "buffer" from all things "unnatural".
You may even be "greeted" by resident deer.
- Boundary Waters Canoe Area: River Point is the only Ely,
Minnesota resort and canoe outfitter located on the
northern, most private half of beautiful Birch Lake with
direct water access to the Boundary Waters BWCA. Guests can
experience the Boundary Waters right from their doorstep for
fantastic day and overnight canoe trips. River Point
provides daily shuttle service to various entry points into
the BWCA for guided or self-guided fishing excursions,
photography, wildlife viewing, and just plain enjoyment!

Birch Lake is 6000+ acres and 20
miles long. Birch is the largest Ely-area lake, and 90% of its wilderness shoreline is totally undeveloped federal
land! There is no other lake in the Ely area outside of the
protected Boundary Waters
Canoe Area with this amount of true wilderness shoreline
without any motorboat restrictions (any size boat with

Less shoreline development means more wilderness
seclusion for you at this Ely resort. Boaters and fisher people will enjoy the privacy of a fish
fry on an island, or "time to explore" anywhere on the lake. Canoeists
who desire to camp overnight will find the same quiet
and solitude as they would in the BWCA.

FISHING DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER. Birch Lake was
ranked the #2 walleye lake in Minnesota in a recent survey by the DNR. An average of 14.2 walleyes were caught
per gill net in the most recent population survey. Other predominant species are northern
pikes, slab crappies, tasty bluegills, and feisty smallmouth bass.
